Connect Slack

Slack lets Concierge send handoffs and high-intent visitor alerts into a channel your team already checks.

You are creating a Slack Incoming Webhook. It is a private URL that lets Concierge post messages into one Slack channel.

Before you begin

Make sure you have permission to create Slack apps for your workspace. If you do not, ask a Slack admin to either create the webhook for you or approve your app.

1. Choose a channel

  1. Open Slack.
  2. Create or choose the channel that should receive Concierge alerts.
  3. A good starter name is #concierge-alerts or #sales-alerts.

2. Create a Slack app

  1. Go to api.slack.com/apps.
  2. Select Create New App.
  3. Choose From scratch.
  4. Name the app Concierge Alerts.
  5. Select the Slack workspace where Concierge should post alerts.
  6. Select Create App.

3. Create the Incoming Webhook

  1. In the left menu, open Incoming Webhooks.
  2. Turn Activate Incoming Webhooks on.
  3. Select Add New Webhook to Workspace.
  4. Choose the Slack channel you selected earlier.
  5. Select Allow.
  6. Copy the webhook URL. It should start with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
Keep the webhook URL private. Anyone with that URL can post into the selected Slack channel.

4. Connect Slack in Concierge

  1. Return to Concierge.
  2. Open the site you are setting up.
  3. Go to Human handoff.
  4. Find Send alerts to Slack.
  5. Paste the Slack webhook URL into Slack alert URL.
  6. Leave the important alert types selected.
  7. Select Connect Slack.

5. Send a test alert

  1. After Slack is connected, find the saved Slack connection.
  2. Select Send test alert.
  3. Open your Slack channel and confirm the Concierge test alert appears.

Troubleshooting

The test says failed

Check that the webhook URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/ and that no spaces were copied before or after it.

The alert went to the wrong channel

Create a new webhook and choose the correct channel. Slack webhooks are tied to the channel selected during setup.

I do not see Incoming Webhooks

Your workspace may restrict app creation. Ask your Slack admin to create the Concierge Alerts app or approve your access.

Ready to continue? Return to the docs home or open Concierge and connect Slack from the Human handoff page.
